Co captains return for 2023.

“A word from our coach Daren Harris”

On our recent camp to Galba Downs the players again voted for their senior leaders. This is one of the most important parts of our camp.

As we saw last year when we have player led leadership it allows timely decisions to be made.

Our coaches offer wise council but at the end of the day we sit behind the glass on game day and the players are the ones who must perform as a team under the pressure of a quality WAFL competition.

Our values drive our behaviours so we are looking for the leaders who can play quality League football and also drive the standards linked to our values.

It is fair to say the depth of this leadership and buy-in continues to grow. There was a standout 6 players who will form our leadership group. Aaron Black, Dean Munns, Tyler Keitel, Conal Lynch, Luke Meadows and Aiden Lynch

The two highest vote getters were premiership Co-Captains Aaron Black and Dean Munns who will again Captain our great club.

Appointed for his 2nd year Munns said “ To be appointed as co-captain with Aaron for 2023 is a massive honour. We are excited to work with Tyler and Conal as vice captains as well as Luke and Aidan in the leadership group to continue improving as a football club to be the best we can be. It is a privilege to represent such a connected playing group who are so committed and driven to achieve team success.  Aaron who will captain the club for a sixth consecutive season mentioned” Its an honour to lead this football club and I’m wrapped to do it again in 2023 along side Dean! It was a fantastic learning experience last year, with an amazing result to finish and the group will look to build on what we have already achieved this coming season! Go West.

Over 20 of our player group received votes which shows the depth and trust we are building in our player group.

It is great to officially welcome Conal and Aiden to the leadership group.

Also, a special mention to Blake Wilhelm who stepped down from the leadership group prior to the vote. The WPFC will always be indebted to the selfless way Blake has led our football club and hope we see you add many more quality games in 2023
