The West Perth Football Club is hoping to enroll more than 400 children in July's Smarter than Smoking Holiday Clinics, whether they play football or not.

The clinics will give young footballers the opportunity to receive skills coaching from senior Falcon's players and gain an insight into how the club runs.

West Perth District Manager Gerry O'Dea said the clinics were not just aimed at kids already involved in the sport.

"We want new kids to come along," he said. "We don't want the Holiday Clinics to be just an experience for children already playing junior footy."

Mr O'Dea said the Holiday Clinics did not involve the children playing any actual games of football.

"We don't want a kid new to footy to come along and get bashed around and caught up in the rough and tumble of it," he said. "We want them to really enjoy it and possibly want to start playing footy.

We want to introduce them to a nice, fun program."

Mr O'Dea said the club aimed to get registration numbers up by advertising the clinics on the Falcon's website and through the club's School Ambassador Program.

The School Ambassador Program involves a volunteer placed at each of West Perth's zoned primary schools acting as a contact person for any football event information.

"We ask them to take the information and promote it in any way they can at their school," Mr O'Dea said. "We want them to print out flyers, put it in the school newsletter, and talk to the kids about it."

The Holiday Clinics will be run at Arena Joondalup on July 8 and 9 for 6-8 year olds, and on July 15 and 16 for 9-12 year olds.
